Savannah Guthrie's Mom Kidnapped for $6M Bitcoin

The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has entered its eighth day. Nancy was last seen on January 31 after having dinner at her sister Annie's home in Tucson. She failed to appear for church the following morning, prompting a missing person report. Investigators discovered blood on her front porch and noted her doorbell camera was disconnected around 1:45 am, with movement detected by security cameras less than 30 minutes later. Her pacemaker was also disconnected from her phone shortly after.

Her alleged kidnappers have demanded $6 million in Bitcoin for her safe return, with a deadline set for Monday at 5 pm local time. This demand was reportedly sent to local news outlets. US Attorney Jeanine Pirro strongly condemned the abduction, questioning the motive behind kidnapping an elderly woman for ransom. Arizona Senator Mark Kelly confirmed he was informed of the situation by Savannah before it became public and has been in contact with local law enforcement.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI are leading the investigation. Despite Sheriff Chris Nanos expressing optimism that Nancy is still alive, the public has grown agitated over the probe's pace, particularly after a recent press conference. Forensics teams have returned to Nancy's home multiple times, collecting evidence, including a car from her garage and a camera from her roof. A "vehicle of interest" was identified and believed to have been seen at a local convenience store.
