Bones Found Near Guthrie Home: Kidnappers Still At Large

Human remains have reportedly been discovered in a desert location approximately 15 miles from the home of Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared earlier this year. Law enforcement sources indicated the bones were found in a remote area accessible only by a long hike. While the discovery has been made, officials have stated there is no indication that the remains belong to Nancy Guthrie.

The recovered remains are described as "bleached white bones," suggesting they have been exposed to the elements for an extended period. This condition is consistent with prolonged exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays, which break down organic components and cause discoloration.

Authorities are still actively investigating the disappearance and have yet to find any leads regarding the capture of Guthrie's abductors or the location of the 84-year-old herself. Earlier this August, investigators released an early ransom note, hoping for public assistance in identifying the writer's distinctive linguistic style. A second note, released last Friday, indicated that Nancy Guthrie had died shortly after she was kidnapped.

The first ransom note, sent on February 2, claimed Guthrie was safe but demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency for her release, with threats of increased ransom amounts and her death if the demand was not met. The second note conveyed a message of apology and finality, stating, "She is buried in nature now. Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome."

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her home outside Tucson on February 1. The Pima County Sheriff's Department believes the unique characteristics of the ransom notes may be recognizable to someone familiar with the writer.
