New Lead in Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case

Investigators have announced a significant new development in the ongoing investigation into the 2026 disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI Guthrie Task Force recently became aware of a possible new ransom note related to the case. Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that authorities are examining social media comments regarding the note to ascertain its validity.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was last seen at her residence in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, on January 31, 2026. Law enforcement believes she was abducted from her home in the early hours of February 1. No suspects have been identified in connection with her disappearance. Earlier in 2026, the sheriff's department had released the contents of two previous ransom notes sent to Savannah Guthrie and her family.

These initial notes, dated February 2 and February 6, 2026, claimed Nancy was being held for ransom and later stated she had died. The first note demanded $4 million USD in Bitcoin within a specified deadline, threatening increased demands and harm if the payment was not made. The second note suggested Nancy had perished due to a heart-related issue shortly after her abduction, expressing condolences to the family.
