Summary
- Man caught on video running from crash scene without trousers.
- He admitted to driving through a red light and failing a drug test.
- Received an 18-month community service order and driving ban.

A man has been banned from driving for two years following his involvement in a three-vehicle collision on Wigan Road in Bolton. Mark Richards, 48, was captured on video running away from the crash scene semi-naked, wearing only a T-shirt and socks. His trousers were found in his hands as he fled into nearby woodland.
Richards later returned to the scene and admitted to police that he had driven through a red light. He also provided a saliva sample that tested positive for drugs. However, he refused a blood test at the police station, citing a fear of needles.
During his court appearance, Richards pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. Alongside the driving ban, he was sentenced to an 18-month community service order and fined £199. His defense lawyer noted he had 'quite a lot going on in his personal life' at the time, contributing to his actions.
The viral video led to widespread speculation on social media regarding the circumstances of his hasty departure, with humorous theories circulating about why he might have fled without his trousers.
