The Lakadganj police in Nagpur successfully resolved a robbery incident in just six hours, leading to the arrest of three hardened criminals. The entire stolen property, valued at approximately ₹1 lakh and including an electric autorickshaw, a mobile phone, and cash, was recovered.
Significant assistance in cracking the case came from residents of the Ganga Jamuna area. These individuals helped police identify the suspects by recognizing them in CCTV footage, a crucial step in the swift apprehension.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the complainant was en route home. Three assailants diverted the victim's hired e-rickshaw to a secluded spot, assaulted him, and stole his belongings. The victim sustained serious head injuries and was hospitalized.
Police noted that previous victims in the area often hesitated to report crimes due to social stigma, but hospital intervention facilitated this complaint. A special investigation team utilized technical evidence, informers, and crime scene analysis to identify and arrest Sheikh Wasim, Nilesh Mendhole, and Sheikh Wasim alias Akram. The accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the e-rickshaw, phone, and cash.
