A disturbing case of "digital arrest" has come to light in Nagpur, where a 19-year-old youth allegedly held a 16-year-old girl captive for nearly three months. The accused used mobile phone access, constant video calls, and threats to control the victim, who was also subjected to severe physical abuse.
The girl was reportedly held hostage in a rented flat in the Dighori area. During her captivity, she endured repeated rape, was whipped with a leather belt, and sustained 20 knife wounds. Her ordeal ended when she was rescued on August 3rd, following a missing person report filed by her parents.
Investigators uncovered that the accused purchased a neck strap and a belt, allegedly used in the assaults, from two pet shops in Nagpur. The youth, who met the girl on Instagram, used this platform to enforce his control. He allegedly commanded her to maintain video calls and sleep under her bed, threatening to circulate objectionable photographs if she refused.
