Summary
- Gang war erupted in Pachpaoli area of Nagpur late Wednesday.
- Ajay Chinchkhede narrowly escaped bullets fired by rival Jagdish Gokhale.
- The feud escalated over money and a drug case tip-off.
Gang violence erupted late Wednesday in Nagpur's Pachpaoli area when bullets were fired at Ajay Chinchkhede, 27, near Kamal Chowk. The shooting occurred during a birthday celebration for an associate, causing panic in the busy market. Chinchkhede, who is currently out on bail in a MCOCA case, narrowly avoided being hit by the gunfire.
The primary accused, Jagdish Vijay Gokhale, 27, also recently granted bail, allegedly led the attack with bike-borne gang members. Police sources indicate a fierce struggle for dominance between the gangs in the Pachpaoli region. The feud reportedly escalated over financial dealings and a crucial tip-off provided by Chinchkhede that led to Jagdish's arrest in an MD drug case on April 24.
Following the incident, Chinchkhede reported the shooting to the Pachpaoli police station on Thursday morning, providing an empty cartridge as evidence. An attempt-to-murder case has been registered, and a large-scale search is underway for Jagdish and his accomplices.
