- The suspect was apprehended by crime branch officers.
A businessman from Nagpur, Umang Dadwe, was apprehended by the crime branch approximately 48 hours after allegedly stabbing his wife's lover, Ajay Shriwas, 26 times. The brutal attack took place at Shriwas's rented flat in Gourkhede Complex on a Saturday.
Dadwe, 44, reportedly planned the murder after suspecting his wife's affair, which was confirmed by her secret phone calls and a subsequent divorce notice and domestic violence complaint. He had scouted the victim's flat since May 2.
The motive stemmed from his wife's rekindled relationship with Shriwas, a loan recovery agent. Dadwe confronted Shriwas with evidence of the affair before allegedly carrying out the stabbing.
Dadwe attempted to evade capture by using an autorickshaw and a getaway car, with his friend Sandesh Bhosale assisting. However, evidence such as a dropped phone bill and CCTV footage of his distinctive red cap led to his arrest. His friend Bhosale also confessed during interrogation.
