Mysuru Child Helpline Sees Doubled Complaints
5 Apr
Summary
- Child Helpline complaints more than doubled in a year.
- Child marriage issues are a major complaint category.
- Increased awareness drives rise in helpline reports.

Between April 2025 and February 2026, the Mysuru District Child Helpline (1098) received over 1,070 complaints, more than double the figures from the preceding two years. This places Mysuru third in the state for helpline complaints during this period.
Child marriage complaints constitute a significant portion, with 691 such cases reported in total over the analyzed timeframe. Between April 2025 and March 2026, 277 child marriage complaints were registered, while 279 were reported in the 2024-25 period.
Child welfare officials note a rise in reports concerning behavioral issues, single-parent family challenges, and child labor. Experts suggest increased societal awareness of the 1098 helpline has led children and the public to report issues more readily.
