More than 17 years after the fatal shooting of taxi driver Harun Khan, a 76-year-old man is scheduled to face a murder trial. Khan, a father of four, was shot on the evening of March 3, 2008, outside his residence in Tudor Street, Tipton. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
David Harrison, aged 76 and currently held at HMP Frankland, has been charged with murder in connection with Khan's death. He was also charged in December of last year with wounding with intent following a separate shooting incident on December 14, 2007, in Farthings Lane, Dudley, involving a 27-year-old man. Additionally, Harrison faces two counts of possessing a firearm.
A three-week trial is slated to commence on November 16. During a plea hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Harrison, who was not present via video-link, entered a not guilty plea. A further trial preparation hearing has been scheduled for April 10.
