Summary
- Banking executive Marianne Kilonzi was beaten to death in her London flat.
- Her boyfriend, Brian Kipglagat, was arrested attempting to enter Tanzania.
- He is now facing extradition to the UK for his alleged role in her death.

Brian Kipglagat, the boyfriend of banking executive Marianne Kilonzi, has been arrested after being on the run for 16 months. He was detained by immigration officers on June 10 as he attempted to enter Tanzania from Namanga, Kenya. Kilonzi, a 43-year-old vice-president at Citibank, was discovered in her Woolwich flat with fatal head injuries on January 17 of the previous year.
Kipglagat is now subject to extradition proceedings to face charges in the UK related to Kilonzi's death. Prosecutors in Kenya informed the court that Kipglagat allegedly described his girlfriend's death as a "misfortune" in a text message to a relative. He is believed to have possessed false travel documents and the phone used for the message.
Kenyan authorities took Kipglagat into custody at the request of the Metropolitan Police. He appeared in court in Nairobi on June 12, where prosecutors argued against bail, citing his lack of fixed abode and continuous movement within Kenya. Kenyan officials are awaiting a formal extradition request from British authorities.
