17 Jul
Summary
- Larry Cottrell pleaded guilty to battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
- He received a four-year sentence with two years suspended.
- The conviction stems from a January 2025 dispute at a Muncie apartment.

Larry A. Cottrell, formerly of Muncie and recently of Fayetteville, Ohio, has entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge in connection with a January 2025 stabbing. The 51-year-old admitted to battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony. This plea agreement allows him to avoid the more severe attempted murder charge, which carried a maximum 40-year sentence.
Delaware Circuit Court 5 Judge Thomas Cannon Jr. accepted the plea agreement, sentencing Cottrell to four years imprisonment, with two years suspended. He was also granted credit for 539 days already spent in jail. The stabbing occurred at a Muncie apartment on North Elgin Street when Cottrell allegedly confronted a juvenile over stolen marijuana.
