In Malad, Mumbai, police have apprehended Rhythm Panchal, a 37-year-old individual who transitioned from a gym trainer to a self-proclaimed spiritual healer known as 'Bhondu Baba'. He is accused of luring women to his residence for sexual exploitation, allegedly under the pretense of performing non-conventional Aghori rituals and superstitions.
Authorities report that Panchal conducted sessions from 8 pm to 7 am, claiming to be a divine incarnation capable of curing ailments. He specifically targeted vulnerable women, including those facing infertility. Victims reported being subjected to obscene acts during alleged puja rituals and were often coerced into paying significant sums of money, along with providing items like liquor and animal organs.
The investigation gained momentum after Panchal allegedly resorted to threats against complainants. With over 60 victims having filed complaints, Dindoshi Police are pursuing further charges, anticipating more cases as the investigation broadens.
