A mother-son duo, residents of Nalasopara, were arrested by Mumbai Airport Customs officials for attempting to smuggle narcotics worth around Rs 8 crore. The passengers arrived from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur and were intercepted based on suspicion by the Air Intelligence Unit. Investigations revealed they had traveled to Bangkok on April 18.
During baggage inspection, customs officers discovered 40 plastic packets containing a dry leafy substance. This substance tested positive for Hydroponic Weed, a narcotic drug, with a net weight of 7937 grams and an estimated value of Rs 8 crore. The duo admitted to their involvement in possessing and concealing the drugs.
