A sessions court in Mumbai has denied bail to a 44-year-old fitness trainer accused of killing an eight-year-old boy with her car last month. The court found that the accused, Megha Rawal, driving an Innova Crysta, could have foreseen the consequences of her actions, potentially leading to a fatal accident. Eyewitnesses reported Rawal was on her phone at the time of the incident near a garden where the child, Ansh Gupta, was present.
Call logs presented to the court showed several missed and outgoing calls around the time of the accident. The judge also dismissed the defense's argument about a blind turn, noting the road was fairly straight. The court concluded that granting bail was not appropriate at this preliminary stage of the investigation.
