Wife's Intervention Leads to Builder's "Abduction" to Rehab Facility
7 Oct
Summary
- Builder "abducted" from home, traced to rehab center
- Abduction planned by builder's first wife due to alcoholism concerns
- Employees of rehab center acted on first wife's instructions
On October 5th, 2025, a Mumbai-based builder named Chandrakant Bhunu was allegedly "abducted" from his home in the Four Bungalows locality. According to a complaint filed by Bhunu's second wife, Afsana Arab, four unidentified men forced Bhunu to accompany them in a car, leading to a kidnapping case being registered with the Versova police.
However, the police investigation revealed a surprising twist. Bhunu was actually traced to a rehabilitation center in Vasai, Palghar district, where he had been admitted by his first wife. The "abduction" was, in fact, an intervention planned by Bhunu's first wife, who was concerned about his alcoholism and had him admitted to the rehab center against his will.
The men who forcibly removed Bhunu from his home were employees of the rehabilitation center, acting on the instructions of his first wife. The police have determined that there was no property dispute or other criminal motive behind the incident, as initially alleged by Bhunu's second wife.
