Kritika Chaudhary, a 27-year-old actor, was found deceased in her Mumbai apartment on June 12, 2017. Neighbours alerted authorities due to a foul odor emanating from her locked fifth-floor flat. Upon entry, police discovered her decomposing body on the bed, exhibiting severe head injuries, consistent with postmortem findings of multiple blows.
The crime scene revealed a blood-stained brass knuckle and suspected drug powder. Investigators also found a man's blood-stained shirt, which, along with CCTV footage showing two men leaving the building, led to the arrest of Shakeel Naseem and Vasudev. Police stated the motive was a Rs 6,000 drug debt owed to Naseem.
However, Kritika's family doubted the debt motive, as Rs 22,000 in cash was found in her apartment. They questioned why she would risk her life for such a small sum. Kritika, originally from Haridwar, had moved to Mumbai in 2011 and had appeared in television shows and films.
