Drink-Driving Acquittal: Mum Flips Car with Drugs

A mother-of-two, Natasha Jansen, previously acquitted of high-range drink-driving in August, is now facing new allegations. Her initial charge was dismissed after her lawyer successfully argued that a health supplement and a medical condition led to an inaccurate blood alcohol reading. Less than three weeks later, Jansen was involved in a single-vehicle collision, flipping her Mercedes SUV into parked cars.

Police allege that Jansen was under the influence of drugs at the time of the second incident and returned a positive roadside alcohol test. She was subsequently charged with negligent driving and failing to submit to a breath analysis. An additional charge of driving with an illicit drug present in her system was later added.

Jansen had previously made headlines for a July incident where she recorded a blood alcohol reading almost five times the legal limit. Her defense claimed chlorophyll consumption and a reflux condition caused the inflated reading, a claim accepted by the court. She is listed to face court again for these latest charges.
