Mounted Police Patrol Sone River Against Sand Mafias
26 Feb
Summary
- Mounted police units deployed for sand mining patrols.
- Operations focus on inaccessible diara areas along Sone River.
- Increased surveillance ahead of Holi festival aims to curb illegal activities.

In a firm resolve to combat illegal sand mining and transportation, Bhojpur police have deployed units of the mounted special armed police. These forces are conducting intensified patrolling and flag marches across the inaccessible riverine stretches of the Sone river. This initiative, directed by the Bhojpur SP, places special surveillance under the Koilwar, Babura, and Chandi police stations.
The deployment is strategically timed ahead of the upcoming Holi festival. Police officials noted that mounted personnel offer superior visibility and a height advantage, making them particularly effective in spotting illicit activities within the challenging diara belt, which is often vulnerable to sand mining.
Patrolling operations are actively occurring in several sand ghats along the Sone river, including Semra, Mahadevchak, Kamaluchak, Rajapur, Daulatpur, Kachra factory area, and Mahui. The clampdown on illegal sand extraction and transportation is being led by local police officers, reinforcing the commitment to eradicate these activities.
