24 May
Summary
- MEC student Rimi Kumari died May 21; suicide and murder claims conflict.
- Her boyfriend Robin Kumar was arrested by police on Sunday.
- Father alleged murder, accusing college and police of collusion.

A third-year student at Motihari Engineering College (MEC), Rimi Kumari, was found deceased in her hostel room on May 21. Initial reports from the Muffasil police station indicated suicide. However, the college principal stated she was found unconscious and not hanged, suggesting she was taken to a nursing home where she later died.
Rimi's father has filed a murder case, accusing college administration and police of complicity and claiming his daughter was strangled. He stated she was normal during a phone call on the night before her death.
In response, the Superintendent of Police (SP) formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate. The autopsy report supports suicide as the cause of death. Police are examining vital clues recovered from the deceased's mobile phone, including a message exchange with her boyfriend, Robin Kumar, who was arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident.
