Killer Mom Lied to Doctors, Doomed Toddler
30 Jul
Summary
- Mother's lies to doctors overrode staff who sought child protection.
- Toddler sustained fatal head injury after violent shaking or impact.
- Mother and boyfriend received life and 28.5-year sentences respectively.

In a tragic case, a mother's persistent lies to medical professionals resulted in her two-year-old daughter's death. Alexandra Walker, 26, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday after being convicted of murder and child cruelty. The court heard how Walker fabricated stories to conceal a series of assaults on her daughter, Isabelle Welsh.
Ms. Justice Norton stated that doctors accepted Walker's false narrative, overriding other medical staff who recognized the need for safeguarding Isabelle. These crucial interventions, which might have saved the toddler's life, were consequently not initiated. Isabelle suffered an unsurvivable head injury on September 13, 2025, and passed away in hospital within 24 hours.
Harrison Simpson, Walker's boyfriend, was convicted of murder, child cruelty, and sexual abuse of a child, receiving a minimum sentence of 28.5 years. Walker will serve at least 22 years for her crimes.
The judge described Isabelle's injuries as "sadistic" and noted she was "obviously in pain and distressed." The court was informed that Isabelle had been taken to the hospital with a broken leg 11 days prior to the fatal incident, raising suspicions. Walker had also delayed seeking medical attention for Isabelle for two weeks, and then only called emergency services after her stepfather's insistence.
