Hours before a reported ransom deadline passed on Monday, news anchor Savannah Guthrie made a desperate plea for assistance in finding her mother. Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, residence on January 31 and is believed to have been abducted.
The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information pertinent to the case. A deadline of 17:00 local time on Monday has since passed, with the FBI noting no awareness of further communication between the family and alleged kidnappers. Earlier, a purported deadline for a Bitcoin ransom also expired on February 5.
Nancy Guthrie was discovered missing after failing to appear for a church service on February 1. The family has previously released videos expressing their willingness to engage with the suspected kidnapper and seeking proof of life. While initially hesitant, the family had indicated a willingness to pay for her safe return.
