12 Dec
Summary
- Mother sentenced for causing death by careless driving.
- Under-inflated tyre led to head-on collision.
- Two young sons died in the tragic school run crash.

A mother received a suspended prison sentence for causing the deaths of her two young sons in a tragic road accident. The incident, which occurred on a school run, involved a head-on collision on the A52 in Lincolnshire. Investigations revealed that an under-inflated tyre on the mother's vehicle was the primary cause, leading her to lose control on a bend.
Tragically, one son died at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital. A fourth child in the car survived with injuries, and three occupants of the other vehicle sustained serious harm. The mother admitted to being aware of the tyre's condition prior to the journey, a fact established through CCTV and witness accounts.
Representing the defense, it was highlighted that the mother has been experiencing severe mental health issues due to the trauma. The judge acknowledged her carelessness as the cause of the fatal incident, emphasizing the catastrophic consequences of the miscommunication regarding the tyre's pressure. She was given a 20-month suspended sentence.
