Oklahoma Mother Gets Life Sentence for Fatal Drug-Fueled Crash

An Oklahoma mother, Keiosha Rucker, has been sentenced to life in prison for a devastating crash that killed five people, including her two young children. The incident occurred in February 2024 when Rucker, under the influence of cocaine and marijuana, failed to yield to a firetruck responding with lights and sirens. The collision resulted in the deaths of her one-year-old son, five-year-old daughter, and three other individuals.

Rucker pleaded no contest to manslaughter and driving under the influence charges. Prosecutors revealed that during a jail phone call, Rucker expressed no intention to stop her drug use, stating she would smoke marijuana upon release. This lack of remorse reportedly angered the judge, who handed down five life sentences, ensuring Rucker will spend at least 40 years before parole eligibility.

Despite surviving the crash, Rucker sustained severe injuries, including partial paralysis. Her attorney argued the firetruck was speeding, but a crash report indicated the firetruck was traveling at approximately 67 mph. Rucker has also filed a lawsuit against the city and the Tulsa Fire Department, citing negligence and seeking damages for her permanent injuries.
