In Mangaon, Raigad, a devastating incident occurred where a tribal woman, Asha Jadhav, reportedly consumed a poisoned cold drink after giving it to her four children. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of Asha, aged 29, and her daughters Nandini, 6, and Durva, 7. Her son Ravi, 8, and daughter Rajshree, 4, survived and are receiving care in the ICU.
The woman's brother filed a complaint alleging her husband, Dharma Jadhav, is an alcoholic who subjected her to frequent abuse. He claimed Asha had threatened suicide if his behavior didn't change. Following a reported quarrel and physical abuse by Dharma on Saturday, Asha allegedly took this extreme step.
Police have arrested Dharma Jadhav for abetment of suicide, criminal intimidation, and other charges. Asha Jadhav was booked for murder and attempted murder, but proceedings against her will be terminated due to her death. The authorities are now focused on the care of the two surviving children, who will likely be raised by their grandparents or Asha's brothers.
