Mom Missing 9 Months: FBI Agent Weighs in on Florida Lab Visit
2 Nov
Summary
- Retired FBI agent speculates on significance of detectives' Florida lab visit.
- Pima County Sheriff noted investigators traveled to Florida for lab analysis.
- Savannah Guthrie's mother has been missing for nine months since January.
Nancy Guthrie, mother of 'Today' co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for nine months following her abduction from her Tucson, Arizona, home. Retired FBI agent Steve Moore believes recent travel by investigators to a Florida lab indicates the presence of viable DNA evidence. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated in late October that detectives visited a Florida lab to explore options for advancing the case.
Moore suggested that the trip implies investigators have identified unidentified or partial DNA and are seeking to determine its evidentiary value. The abduction occurred on January 31, with Nancy's family reporting her missing on February 1. Investigators have released suspect photos and alleged ransom notes, while Savannah has offered a $1 million reward, yet no suspect has been publicly identified.
