A mother, Kinga Wydrzynska, 26, is accused of murdering her one-year-old daughter, Isabella Stasiak, after reportedly recording videos pleading with the child to wake up. These recordings were made in the early hours of January 7, 2025, before emergency services were summoned to their Rugby, Warwickshire home.
Prosecutors allege Isabella died from a traumatic head injury caused by blunt force impact. Medical experts also found the child suffered a complex skull fracture, haemorrhage, a broken right arm, and more than a dozen rib fractures across eight ribs, many of different ages.
Further injuries included a burn to her face, likely inflicted between four and seven days prior to her death. While Wydrzynska suggested Isabella accidentally burned herself on bath taps, medical experts debated whether the injury was accidental or deliberate.
Wydrzynska and Isabella's father, Michal Stasiak, 28, deny murder and charges related to causing or allowing the child's death and severe harm. The trial at Warwickshire Justice Centre is expected to last three months.
