Mother Alleges Deliberate Hit by Police Jeep

In Thrissur, the mother of a motorcyclist severely injured in a July 19 incident at Pudukad Amballur has asserted that the collision with a police jeep was intentional. Prasanna Shaju presented photographic and video evidence suggesting the police vehicle deliberately struck the motorcycle carrying her two sons and their friend. Abhishek, one of the sons, sustained critical injuries, while the other two escaped with minor ones. Four police officers from the Pudukad station, including a sub-inspector, have been suspended. This action followed allegations that they abandoned the injured riders and failed to seek immediate medical attention for them after the crash.

Prasanna Shaju has lodged a complaint with the additional director general of police, demanding a thorough investigation and the registration of an attempt-to-murder case against the officers involved. She claims video evidence recorded on her son's mobile phone corroborates her accusation of a deliberate ramming by the police jeep. The police had initially stated they were responding to a call about a roadside clash and were pursuing suspects on the motorcycle when the jeep collided with the bike.
