A disturbing incident unfolded at Universal CityWalk in Florida where a mother, Amanda Thorpe, was arrested for child neglect. Thorpe reportedly left her 12-year-old daughter alone at a bar on Saturday, March 7. Deputies responded to reports of a missing child and found the visibly upset girl crying on a bar stool.
Investigators learned that Thorpe had argued with her daughter, who wanted to return to their hotel room while Thorpe wanted to go to another bar. Thorpe then left the establishment, allegedly telling her daughter "F**k you" and making an offensive gesture.
Security personnel found Thorpe at the Red Coconut Club, reportedly dancing alone with a drink and exhibiting signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes and unsteady balance. She initially claimed she thought her daughter had followed her or returned to the hotel.
Thorpe was arrested and charged with child neglect, later posting a $2,500 bond. The child was safely reunited with her grandfather. The Florida Department of Children and Families was also notified about the incident.
