A family in Hisar and Sonipat is grappling with an unimaginable horror after Poonam was accused of drowning her toddler son and four nieces. For six years, multiple child deaths within the family, including drownings and accidents, went unquestioned. Now, relatives are re-examining every tragedy, suspecting Poonam's involvement. Poonam's child is now being cared for by the mother of one of her alleged victims.
Poonam confessed to drowning her niece Vidhi in December 2025 and to killing two other nieces and her own son earlier. Police revealed she admitted to having an urge to murder children more beautiful than her own. The family now suspects her involvement in other past tragedies, including a sister-in-law's unexplained death and a miscarriage.
Further investigations are underway, with a new FIR registered for the deaths of Poonam's son and niece. Poonam's husband described her as "a witch, not a mother" and highlighted how she obstructed autopsies by threatening suicide. She had a master's degree and was pursuing a BEd, but frequently argued with his family.
