Apartment Rent Woes: Residents Face Demands for Paid Dues
16 Jun
Summary
- Residents claim they paid rent but received notices for unpaid balances.
- One tenant with HUD assistance states her rent should be zero.
- Management and a housing authority are not providing clear answers.

Residents of Monaco Arms apartments report receiving notices demanding payment for rent they claim to have already settled. Several individuals have shown documentation of balances ranging from $359 to $754. A tenant who has lived at the complex for nearly a decade stated her lease, which includes $1,118 in HUD assistance, should result in her rent being zero. She expressed frustration, noting that management's promise to investigate her balance within five days has stretched to nearly two weeks with no resolution.
Attempts to obtain clarification from the leasing office proved fruitless. When a reporter visited, management appeared to be present but the office was closed, and a Jacksonville Sheriff's officer informed the crew that management had requested their removal from the property. The Jacksonville Housing Authority was contacted regarding their involvement with the property due to residents receiving Section 8 and HUD assistance. They requested email correspondence and notice documents for review. TPI Management, the company listed on the notices, has also been contacted but has yet to respond.
