A woman in Oklahoma faces a significant prison sentence after a jury recommended 60 years for child abuse and drug-related offenses. Lyndsay Spegal, 41, was convicted by a jury in the past week for acts of violence against her teenage daughter and for cultivating psychedelic substances.
Spegal initially claimed she slapped her daughter to alleviate an ear infection. However, she later offered conflicting reasons, stating the slap was for using profanity, though it still supposedly helped the ear issue. Her daughter testified during the trial about previous violent episodes and her mother's drug use.
During a search of Spegal's residence, authorities discovered six jars believed to contain DMT, equipment for growing psilocybin mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia. The residence was located less than 300 feet from an elementary school. Spegal is scheduled for sentencing on June 30.
