A shocking incident in Mohali, Punjab, has left a 16-year-old girl in critical condition after she was set on fire. The teenager sustained serious burns when an assailant allegedly poured sanitiser on her and ignited it.
Police arrested Deepak, a man in his early twenties, in connection with the attack that occurred on Friday. The victim was first taken to a government hospital in Mohali. Due to the severity of her burns, she was subsequently transferred to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh.
According to the FIR, the girl stated that the accused lured her into his house before an argument erupted with her family members who were searching for her. Later, Deepak reportedly confronted the girl again, setting her ablaze with sanitiser in a locked room. Her father managed to extinguish the flames and rushed her to the hospital.
