MNS Leader Arrested in Hiranandani Estate Flat Forgery

Summary

  • MNS functionary arrested for cheating and forgery.
  • Dispute over a 30-year lease agreement for a Powai flat.
  • Lease document allegedly altered from three to thirty years.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) functionary Ganesh Chukkal was arrested by Powai police in Mumbai, along with associate Sameer Sawant, in connection with a cheating and forgery case. The incident involves a residential flat in Hiranandani Estates, which is linked to Melronia Hospitality Private Limited.

Melronia Hospitality, whose directors include Alka Bhatia Hiranandani, sister of actor Akshay Kumar, filed a complaint regarding possession and discrepancies in lease documents for a flat in the Adonia building. This property was previously part of Hiranandani Group (HGP) and was liquidated through NCLT proceedings in 2018.

The dispute arose after Chukkal, a former director of Bryce Infrastructure, agreed to lease the flat in 2018 for 36 months. After payments stopped in October 2019, Chukkal assured dues would be cleared but failed to do so. Melronia Hospitality terminated the agreement in 2020.

Chukkal did not vacate, instead presenting an affidavit for a 30-year lease. Police found the original three-year lease document had been altered to 'thirty,' and alleged forged signatures of Melronia Hospitality directors. The document also lacked a notary serial number and had an unclear seal.

Chukkal and Sawant were produced before a court and remanded to police custody. The charges include cheating, forgery, and breach of trust as investigations into the disputed lease document continue. Chukkal had recently organized a large Dahi Handi event attended by celebrities.
