- Personal items believed to be hers recovered from the vehicle.
- Whear remains missing person, despite vehicle discovery.
A car belonging to 73-year-old Yvonne Whear, who has been missing for seven months, has been located in the Rous River in Dulguigan, New South Wales. Police divers found the gold Ford Escape wagon on September 12, a short distance from Whear's hobby farm. This discovery comes after she was last seen on February 19 at a Murwillumbah service station.
Personal items believed to be Yvonne Whear's were recovered from the vehicle, which has since undergone forensic and mechanical investigations. Despite the car's discovery, Whear herself was not found and is still considered a missing person. Her phone's last known ping was at 10 am the day after her disappearance, locating it in the same area where the car was found.
Authorities have stated there is no evidence to suggest Yvonne would voluntarily disappear. Her daughter has expressed belief that her mother may have been taken, citing circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the fact Whear would never leave her animals. Whear was reportedly involved in a lease dispute over her farm prior to her disappearance.
