Police in Nevada are actively searching for Twyla Defond, 28, and her 7-month-old daughter, who were last seen on May 5, 2026. Defond, of Fernley, Nevada, had been arrested on an outstanding warrant in April and later transferred to a rehabilitation facility. She reportedly walked away from the rehab center on May 1.
Four days later, on May 5, witnesses reported that Defond left a residence with her infant daughter. Investigators have not yet identified a vehicle associated with their disappearance and believe they may have left on foot. Both Defond and her baby were entered into the National Crime Information Center as missing persons on May 11. Authorities are appealing for any information regarding their whereabouts.
