A renewed search for Nancy Guthrie, the missing 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, is now focusing south of the US-Mexico border. Nancy was reportedly abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1. A tip received by the Buscando Corazones collective in Mexico suggested her "grave" might be in the Mariposa area, near the border. This area is notable as 25 unmarked graves were previously discovered there.
The collective, with assistance from Mexican authorities, conducted a search but did not locate Nancy's remains. They have stated their commitment to continuing the search. The Pima County Sheriff's Department, leading the investigation in Arizona, confirmed awareness of the cross-border efforts. However, they have not yet been contacted by Mexican authorities regarding the findings.
Nancy Guthrie disappeared after returning home on the evening of February 1. Alarm was raised when she missed her church service. Investigators at her home found blood droplets, hair, and other DNA evidence. Authorities are meticulously cataloging extensive video footage and analyzing DNA evidence in hopes of identifying potential contributors. The Sheriff's Department remains optimistic about solving the case.
