Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today cohost Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over a week. Her alleged captors have demanded a $6 million ransom in bitcoin, according to a local news station that reportedly received one of the ransom notes. The notes specified the payment was due before Monday.
Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31, after having dinner with her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni. Tommaso stated he dropped her off at her Catalina Foothills home around 9:48 p.m. She was reported missing the following morning when she did not appear at church.
Her disappearance is being actively investigated as a crime by the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that while they hope for a search and rescue, they are also proceeding with the investigation as a potential crime.
