A body, strongly suspected to be that of missing British pensioner Geraldine Ann, has been found near the A-92 motorway in southern Spain. The 73-year-old had been the subject of an extensive air and land search since vanishing from her home in Chirivel, near Granada, on September 17. She was last seen leaving her property late at night, reportedly to tend to cats after a domestic disagreement.
Search efforts, including the use of drones and specialist units, were intensified in the weeks following her disappearance. Volunteers, including other British expatriates, also joined the appeal to find her. The body was discovered just over a mile from her home, near the town of Cullar, where she was reportedly last seen.
While definitive DNA tests are pending, police have indicated that the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage. The find brings a somber conclusion to the search for Geraldine Ann, who suffered from senile dementia, as authorities continue to await official confirmation.
