A comprehensive search operation is intensifying for Christine Murton, a vulnerable 78-year-old woman who disappeared from her home near Ipswich 10 days ago. Following the discovery of her blue Toyota Yaris at a retail park, police have expanded the search to include remote woodlands and marshlands, areas she may have frequented. Authorities are increasingly concerned for her welfare, noting she could be confused.
The search, involving specialist teams, drones, and the police helicopter, has now widened to cover Nacton, Levington, Nacton Shore, and Trinity Marshes. Christine, described as white, slim, 5ft 7ins tall with short dark hair and glasses, was last seen wearing a purple jacket. Those close to her mention her enjoyment of long walks, suggesting she may have traveled a considerable distance.
Police are appealing to the public for any information, urging residents to check their gardens, sheds, and outbuildings, and to review CCTV footage. Dog walkers in woodland and near watercourses are particularly asked to remain vigilant. The public is cautioned against conducting their own searches due to hazardous conditions and low temperatures. Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk Police.
