Millionaire Father Killed by Son in Irish Luxury Hotel

A financier father, John McGowan, traveled from Connecticut to Ireland in November 2024 after learning his son, Henry, was experiencing a severe mental health crisis. John booked a flight to Dublin after a friend reported Henry wearing a hot pink fur jacket with a 'wild look in his eyes.'

John intended to meet his son at the airport, but Henry was missing, and his phone's location ceased updating. Henry later called his sister, stating he discarded his passport, medication, and phone, and had run miles to seek hospital admission due to racing thoughts.

John rushed to the hospital but found no available beds. After booking a hotel, he received updates about Henry's urgent need for admission. However, the family lost contact with John. They later discovered an Irish news report detailing a man in his 60s dying after an assault, with a man in his 30s arrested.

Henry, who has battled mental health issues since 2022 and was diagnosed with bipolar I and later schizoaffective disorder, has been charged with his father's killing. John McGowan, 66, was a head partner at a New York stock exchange brokerage firm.
