A multi-crore housing scam has been uncovered in Mumbai, leading to the chargesheet of four individuals, including a government servant. The accused allegedly posed as officials of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) to defraud victims with promises of allotting government plots.
Between October 2024 and October 2025, the accused purportedly collected Rs 2.9 crore through various payment methods. These funds were collected on the false pretense of securing Mhada plots in prime locations like Bandra and Kandivli. However, victims neither received plot possession nor their invested money back.
Investigations revealed a sophisticated forgery operation. The accused created fake Mhada letterheads, counterfeit government stamps, and forged official signatures.
