Two mothers have shared their alarm after finding metal pins concealed within sweets collected by their children during Halloween trick-or-treating. She expressed profound shock, stating that if her son had ingested it, the outcome could have been severe.
Similarly, Savannah McDaid found four metal pins embedded in sweets collected by her three-year-old son in Stranorlar, County Donegal. Her mother's suggestion to check the sweets with a magnet led to the discovery of the tampering. Both mothers are urging other parents to meticulously inspect all remaining Halloween candy.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed an investigation into a contaminated chocolate bar in Rathfriland. An Garda Síochána is also investigating similar reports from Stranorlar and Ballybofey. Authorities are advising the public to look for any signs of package tampering and to contact the police immediately if anything suspicious is found.
