Meta Dismantles Millions of Scam Accounts

Meta reported disrupting over 3.7 million scam-linked accounts, pages, and content this year, leveraging intelligence from the Singapore Police Force (SPF). A two-year collaboration allows Meta investigators to identify and dismantle extensive scam networks.

Between January and June 2026, the social media giant removed more than 113,000 entities and pages associated with fraud across its platforms. This included action against over 33,600 entities during June, targeting scammers exploiting the school holiday travel season.

In July 2026, Meta addressed over 3.6 million entities and pages, many of which were inactive but could be repurposed by scammers. The company emphasizes that scammers operate across multiple platforms and countries, making cross-organizational information sharing vital.

Meta views its partnership with the SPF as a model for broader regional efforts. Officials highlighted the industrial scale of current scams, noting the use of artificial intelligence for mass production of fake profiles, fabricated imagery, and malicious code. Meta continues to invest in platform defenses to quickly address violating scam content.
