Merseyside Murder: Man Charged After Body Found

A murder charge has been brought against George Christopher Gordon, aged 65, following the discovery of a woman's body in Merseyside. The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Delia McInerney, whose remains were found in Gerards Court, Hawes Avenue, Clinkham Wood, St Helens, on January 8.
Gordon, residing in Clinkham Wood, St Helens, is accused of murdering Ms McInerney, who was from Anfield, Liverpool, on or before April 12, 2023. In addition to the murder charge, he faces three counts of fraud by false representation and one count of theft.
Previously, Gordon was authorized for charges including the prevention of a lawful and decent burial of a body and obstructing the coroner. He is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Monday. A plea-and-trial preparation hearing for the other matters is set for February 13 at Liverpool Crown Court. Police have confirmed that Delia McInerney's family is being supported by specialist officers.
