Three men were convicted of murder for the shooting death of Jacqueline Rutter, a 53-year-old grandmother, in her home on Merseyside. The incident occurred in Moreton, Wirral, around 01:00 GMT on October 30, 2022.
Simon Allen, James Byrne, and Barrie Glynn were found guilty of murder, arson, and possession of firearms and ammunition. They arrived at Ms. Rutter's residence in a black Vauxhall Insignia. Two passengers exited the vehicle, and Ms. Rutter was shot twice after answering her door.
The perpetrators then fled the scene. Allen later set the car alight in Moreton. David Harrison was convicted of manslaughter, firearms offenses, and arson for his role in transporting the men and aiding the cleanup.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath stated that the family of Jacqueline, also known as Jackie, is devastated. He expressed hope that the verdict brings closure after a lengthy trial and ensures her killers are brought to justice. Sentencing for the four men is scheduled for Thursday.
