Two men, Liam McHugh and Nathan Beecroft, have been sentenced to prison for holding a man captive and subjecting him to horrific torture for nearly two days. The prolonged ordeal stemmed from the victim stealing £120 from McHugh to purchase cocaine. Following the theft, McHugh attacked the victim, locking him in a bathroom and summoning Beecroft to assist.
During their captivity, the victim endured repeated waterboarding, being assaulted with items such as a metal bar, paint stripper, a bush cutter, and a cheese grater. He also had his head and eyebrows shaved. The pair attempted to extort money from the victim's family, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
The torture finally ended when McHugh's mother alerted the police. Officers found the victim restrained with plastic wire. The victim suffered numerous injuries, including lacerations, burns, and bruises, and expressed his fear of death during the 'dreadful' and 'frightening' ordeal.
