The search for missing 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard has tragically concluded with the discovery of her remains in Utah. Authorities confirmed the finding on Tuesday. Melodee's mother, 40-year-old Ashlee Buzzard, has been arrested and is currently in custody without bail.
Investigators believe Melodee was last seen on October 9 near the Colorado and Utah state line. Surveillance footage from October 7 showed her mother at a car rental agency with Melodee appearing to wear a disguise, including a wig and altered appearance, as they began a road trip.
The rental car traveled through multiple states before returning to Lompoc, California, on October 10, but Melodee was not with her mother. The child was officially reported missing on October 14 by a concerned school administrator, leading to an investigation that involved the FBI.
