A house in Meerut, sealed for nearly 19 months after the murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput, is set to undergo a "purification" ritual after Diwali. The owner, Ompal Singh, confirmed that a "shuddhikaran" and "havan" will be performed in the section where the crime occurred. Preparations also include cleaning and repainting the premises.
Saurabh Rajput was killed on March 3, 2025, and his dismembered body was allegedly concealed in a cement-filled blue drum within the rented house in Indira Nagar. His wife, Muskan Rastogi, and Sahil Shukla were arrested on March 18, 2025, after the discovery of the remains.
Last week, police broke the seals on the house, inventoried the victim's belongings, and returned them to his brother. The sight of the murder scene was deeply distressing for Saurabh's family, with his mother and brother visibly emotional.
