In a Belfast Crown Court trial, an ex-partner has vehemently denied murdering Natalie McNally, who was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. The man, whose identity is protected, also stated he did not enlist anyone else to carry out the killing on December 18, 2022, in Lurgan.
During his testimony, the ex-boyfriend was questioned about injuries to his hands, which he attributed to punching walls, not the night of Ms. McNally's murder. When directly asked if he killed Natalie, he answered, "No." He further stated he was not present at the victim's residence that evening.
The witness made a dramatic accusation in court, yelling at the defendant, Stephen McCullagh, "You done it." He acknowledged that the defense's case suggests he was responsible for the murder. The witness insisted he had provided truthful information to the police, with only minor discrepancies regarding his last contact with Ms. McNally, which he later corrected.
Stephen McCullagh, 36, from Lisburn, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. The court heard that Ms. McNally was 32 years old and 15 weeks pregnant when she was killed at her home. The ongoing trial is expected to reveal further evidence.
